The challenge

The Plant Department is a strategic asset, traditionally managed as a cost centre. Located in a remote suburb of Lagos and employing around 100 people, the department suffered from unreliable stock variance and monthly reporting caused by obsolete software and under-skilled staff.

Inventory movements created significant uncertainty and financial leakage. In line with Bouygues Nigeria’s policy of reinforcing local talent in management roles, the historically expatriate Head of Finance position needed to be transitioned to a qualified Nigerian professional.

All objectives had to be achieved within a tight 9-month deadline. I had to completely restructure the department by training reliable local talent and appointing new leadership. I had to implemented the French corporate cost accounting system and designed robust reporting tools to strictly govern inventory and enforce variance control.
